Frida Kahlo – is a new edition online e-book by 4cats Education. Written specifically for the 2017 > 2021 VCE Studio Arts Study Design.
Section 1, called The Story of Frida Kahlo provides students and teachers with a summary of Kahlo’s life and work.
Section 2, called Reaction of the Art World presents a range of opinions on Kahlo’s art practice, for example what do art critics say, what have historians written about Kahlo and why. This section helps students view the artist’s work from different perspectives and assists in developing a more critical analysis of Kahlo’s artworks.
Section 3, called Writing About Artworks covers the essential Key Knowledge and Key Skills requirement including writing about the Historical and Cultural Context, Influences, Ideas and Meanings, of Kahlo’s work, her use of Subject Matter, how she utilises the Art Elements, Art Principles and the Aesthetic Outcomes. What Materials, Techniques and Processes she uses and how Kahlo has developed her own Identifiable Art Style.
Throughout the E-book there are a series of annotated analysis of the particular artworks by Kahlo. The analysis of these artworks is linked directly to the VCAA Key Knowledge and Key Skills.
