Whats on in galleries this year that may help you!
EXHIBITION @ Gilligan Grant Gallery in Collingwood.SUE BEYERANYWHERE IN THE WORLD23 February until 25 March, 2012.Gallery open throughout exhibition Thurs to Sat 12 noon to 5pm. Sue Beyer’s work considers the facade of the ordered surburban environment and the assumption of the permanence of our way of life. Her work is concerned with the effect that spaces and surburban settingshave on an individual’s emotions and behaviour and how people use space in a modern urban context. the paintings are watchful, voyeuristic and hint at the uneasy ‘realities’ that can be found in these urban landscapes. STUDENT EXHIBITION REVIEWS FOR SCHOOL GROUPS. CONTACT grant@4cats.com.au to make a booking. |

vce art and studio arts – the visual diary
The visual diary, sketchbook or backup folder whatever you wish to call it is an integral part of both the VCE Art and VCE Studio Arts study design. This book of exploratory ideas is an expression of both the visual ideas you have in mind and also the conceptual ideas that link your artworks and contribute to the meaning and messages within your work. It plays a significant part in the assessment of your final finished artworks - so spend time making your diary a meaning component of your art making. Take a look at these artist diaries - diaries by artists such as Frida Kahlo and Australian painter George Gittoes. 4cats Art Education has a publication called Annotation of Artworks this book is a useful and easy guide to help students with writing appropriate annotation comments that respond clearly to the VCAA Study Design criteria. There are 2 books - one for VCE Art and another for VCE Studio Arts. Students visit www.4cats.com.au. Student price $77. Email grant@4cats.com.au

Brillant eilish. Love the scale, the use of fabric and colour combined and your use of text. the paper labels and inclusion of knitted pockets all add to the meaning of the work.

NEW YEAR 2012
CONGRATUALTIONS to all the Art and Studio Arts students of 2011 – it has been great talking with so many of you throughout last year during your school visits to GILLIGAN GRANT GALLERY. All the very very best to you for the coming years ahead. Remember – always keep visiting galleries and supporting the arts. Cheers and farewell.
WELCOME to the 2012 students. To help inspire the new groups coming through I’ve attached an image of an A+ artwork/s from a Year 12 Art student from last year. This work is obviously inspired by the work of British artist Tracey Emin and American artist Barbara Kruger. The work involved the use of both found objects; namely the tent and bike and other objects displayed within the tent itself and the use of text via fabric, felt and paint to create the outer aesthetic. This work is part of Unit 3 Art. The name of the student is Eilish – thanks Eilish for the images.Congratulations on a great year.
